Artist Biography - Adam Ralston

Adam Ralston was born in Lytham St.Annes in 1970 and achieved an Art Foundation Diploma from Blackpool College of Art in
1990, and went on to achieve a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art at
Canterbury College of Art, 1993.
Ralston is a plein air oil painter, which means he paints from direct observation on location. His hometown of Blackpool is a prominent subject through
...out his art. Each painting is an exploration of the value of tone and colour, whilst remaining conscious of the formal qualities and composition. He prefers to complete a painting 'alla prima' (in one go) if possible, although multiple painting sessions are sometimes needed.

He was recently elected a member of the Manchester Academy Of Fine Arts, and exhibited regularly at the Mall Galleries in London with the New
English Art Club, the Royal Society Of British Artists and the Royal
Institute Of Oil Painters, where in 2016 he won the Frank Herring Easel
Award. He won 1st place at London's Pintar Rapido 2017, and 1st place at
the ROI Paintlive event 2017.
