Born in 1967, Clare Bigger studied an Art Foundation at Buckinghamshire College of Higher Education and completed a degree in Fine Art at South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education, Cardiff, Wales. Since, her sculptures have featured in collections including the Priors Court School collection and the Jerwood Foundation.
Bigger is a figurative sculptor whose w...ork is predominantly made from stainless steel, it ranged from 4 inches to monumental sizes at 10 metres tall. Every sculpture explores and beautifies the poise, balance and movement of living beings, be this animal or man.
The beauty of the sculptures being that movement is explored through a dense and static medium such as steel.
She creates work for both domestic, studio, garden and business premises. Click here if you would like to view the large outdoor creations by Bigger that are considered to be public art.
Her contribution to landscape art through commissions for clients such as EMI, Birmingham Midshires Building Society, Taylor Woodrow and Akeler has significantly enhanced garden, park and corporate environments.
Bigger’s sculptures are a celebration of life and the spontaneity of movement. Her aim is to suggest a gesture, a movement by utilising the minimum of detail, leaving the mind of the observer to complete the picture.
