Heather Howe spent her childhood years in the beautiful countryside of Cornwall in Lizard Peninsula, and after school she completed a Foundation year and a B.A in Fine Art at Falmouth School of Art and Exeter University. Although she has lived in many beautiful parts of the UK, she returned to her childhood home at the turn of the century to surround herself by the landscape wh...ich inspires her practice.
After leaving Art School, Heather worked as a practising artist in the South East of the U.K having one of her first solo shows at the Century Galleries in Henley-on-Thames at the age of 22. Her career has been very diverse in the subsequent years including commercial design work, private commissions and exhibitions throughout the U.K and overseas.
In the past, Heather has painted using watercolours, however she has worked almost exclusively in oils for the past several years enjoying the unexpected accidents that happen as the colours merge together on the canvas. Heather's clever manipulation of light and shade is an example of her technical skill. Each painting has the ability to evoke a memory or transport us back to a place we love.
Heather has always had a strong emotional connection to the landscape and changing weather and strives to communicate this in her work. This feeling of engagement with her subject obviously translates to many people as her work continues to be much sought after by collectors.
