Lars Tunebo was born in 1962 in Lysekil, Sweden and now lives and works in Gothenburg. He is a self-taught artist working with techniques and materials including bronze, glass, painting and photography/mixed media.
His works is shown in Los Angeles, Monaco, London, Moscow, Dubai, Copenhagen, Brussels, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Marbella and is shown in both public and pri...vate collections.
He is mostly known for his photo-montages of animals in unusual situations including elephants on tightropes in New York City and balancing on their heads in London.
It all started when he made a piece for an animal rights organization. Lars feels that instead of putting a stuffed animal on the wall, you should instead choose a painting and let the animal stay free and alive.
The pictures are made from a number of photos that either he took himself or bought, and then put together in photoshop. It usually takes between 8-10 layers before he feels it’s right. After he receives the black and white finished work he hand colours it himself and adds a generous sprinkle of glitter. Lastly, the whole picture is sprayed with a special UV resistant varnish. Lars only works with the finest paper and colors all for you as the observer, so that you can get a piece of extraordinary quality
Tunebo’s sense of humour, wittiness and imagination allow him to create images that constantly surprise and amaze and give laughter and joy.
