Artist Biography - Lillias Blackie

Born in 1943, Lilias is a contemporary Scottish artist whose work has been purchased all over the UK and internationally. Although Lilia’s was always interested in art, she did not start painting until 1969. As a self-taught artist, she is a keen observer of all flowers and specialises in floral subjects, inspired greatly by the French and Dutch Masters.

...br>However, as she has developed her artistic skill throughout the decades, she has now started to produce landscape artworks as well as focusing on floral subjects. The artist produces original oil paintings on board and canvas that are rich with texture and illuminating light, combining her natural talent with her fond memories of her time spent on beaches in her past.

Lillias’ work investigates different moods in seascapes and landscapes, seeking to open up the mind of the viewer to the peace, tranquillity and turmoil, which the changing seascape can represent. Using striking colours and great depth, the artist brings to life the atmospheric nature of coastal scenery.

Lillias now regularly exhibits in Edinburgh, Dunkeld, Pitlochry and in England. The artist has also exhibited internationally in countries such as Germany and Holland.

As well as countless exhibitions, Lilias artwork hangs in many homes internationally and she has had the honour of supplying her artwork to the home of HRH, Princess Anne.
