Lisa Takahashi artwork for sale and artist biography
Artist Lisa Takahashi was born in 1981 to a Japanese mother and an English father and grew up in North London, where she currently lives and works. Lisa Takahashi studied Fine Art at Bath Spa University College and Middlesex University. Following her graduation she has been working as a painter and printmaker from her studio in North London. Lisa Takahashi has also worked as an... assistant to artists Stephen Walter and Hugo Grenville.
Lisa Takahashi draws inspiration for her work from the vibrancy of everyday life and the English countryside. She is influenced by the work of British Modernist printmakers such as the Grosvenor School, Edward Bawden and Eric Ravilious. Lisa Takahashi’s work is reminiscent of work made in 1950s Britain yet this does not undermine its relevance in today’s visual culture.
Lisa Takahashi specialises in woodcut and linocut prints, she produces both single colour and multiple colour prints. She is primarily concerned with the fundamentals of design – colour, line and shape. Her prints are created by layering the imprints of several carved tiles and woodblocks over one another in order to combine all the colours and lines of a single composition. Although her specialism lies in printmaking, Lisa Takahashi also enjoys drawing and painting.
