The artists practice has consistently been focused on the observation and documentation of her immediate landscape. The artist feels a compulsion to project 'particular emotional states' upon her surroundings, through the use of specific imagery both organic and man-made elements in nature in her images.
“Painting, drawing and printmaking are all part of my practice. I am interested in depicting places that I have a personal connection with or a history that inspires me. My work aims to build up a record of time, spirit of place and changing feelings which occur through travel, my existence in the city and a connection with nature and the landscape.” Lucy is drawn to the tension between real and illusory space. The artist believes that spending time in a place allows imagery to implant itself in her reference library of remembered forms, which is almost subconscious in it's operations when she produces prints , paintings and ceramics in her studio. The artists uses repeated sketches to allow her images to built up from a series of quick and impulsive responses, representative of place and time, and a reflection a state of mind. The artist now lives and works in London and exhibits regularly throughout the city.
