Patrick Smith showed an early interest in art at school but when he left he initially followed a more traditional career, training as an engineer / fitter. In his late twenties he decided to return to art and studied Fine Art at Leeds Metropolitan University from 1994-97 winning several awards while he was there; including a scholarship to study at the Utrecht School of Arts in... Holland. Later he studied teaching at Huddersfield University and went on to lecture on painting and printmaking courses at colleges and Universities across the North East of England. Finally in 2008 he established his studio to concentrate on and develop his own work. His paintings today reflect his interest in abstract expressionism and his love of colour and visual texture. He was pleased to sell to a collector in Australia in According to McGee's previous 2012 show.
