Rosie Playfair trained at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee and had a successful degree show selling most of her work to lecturers, students and the general public. Regardless of her accomplished beginnings, Playfair took an unexpected turn from the brushes to become the director of a reputable PR agency. She revisited her artistic skills years later and the subseq...uent praise and demand for her works sparked a renewed passion for both drawing and painting. Her stylised and varied subject matter covers everything from landscapes to portraits, including animals, and still life to abstracts. Her more prominent work remains on her intricate representation of trees. Playfair woodlands are elaborate compositions where the background appears to be as prominent as the foreground, inviting the viewer to explore through the colours, tones, lights and shadows of the configuration, or to simply enjoy the work as a single, collective arrangement of nature in its most complex form.
