Bronze is a medium favoured by many sculptors due to its durability and relative ease of casting. It be placed in or outdoors and can be found in a variety of pleasantly earthy colours (dependent on which treatments are applied to it).
The preferred technique when handling bronze is cast sculpting. Here a clay mould of the sculpture is made, then a layer of wax is coated on the mould before another layer of clay. After the clay has been fired so it remains sturdy and the wax is melted away, a cast is made ready for the bonze to be poured in.
