Neon Art is a fairly new entrant to the art world. It is created by shaping glass tubes filled with rarefied neon or other gases which when electrified glow a luminescent colour.
Most commonly seen in advertising, Neon has made its way into artwork since Pop Art icon Andy Warhol took an interest in it in during the 1950's.
Artists such as Joseph Kosuth, Tracey Emin and Dan Flavin - who was deamed the Grandfather of the practice, were responsible for leading the interest and uptake in Neon art.
