Escape the Hustle and Bustle

As we welcome in the May bank holiday with wide open arms it's a good opportunity to recharge your batteries, clear your mind and relax. Escaping day to day life and the pressures it brings is a common theme within art, and one which isn't just restricted to modern times. Artwork has often been a window into another world and a method of escapism. It could be in reference to past memories, of a holiday or a loved one, or simply towards abstraction and even pure fantasy.

Whatever it may be, we’ve put together a collection of artworks to inspire your escape. These artworks represent breaking free from the banal, unpleasant or just plain boring aspects of everyday life. Ranging from idyllic landscapes to a more conceptual departure from reality, allow yourself to be lost in these transportive and restive artworks.

(And because a weekend is never long enough, maybe take one home with you to extend your escape!)
