If anyone wants to learn more about all aspects of landscape photography Chris Ceasar is your man. I’ve just experienced the most wonderful few days workshop with him and one other in The Lake District. I learned so much, had such fun and shot some amazing scenes. I came home feeling so enriched not only from what I’d learned but also from the company, plus the kindness, care and thoughtfulness of Chris himself as he guided us through the days. I highly recommend his workshops.5 years ago. I booked Chris for a whole day one-to-one photography lesson. He was fabulous...he went at my own pace and explained things very simply , so easy to follow. It was a fun day with great results. His ‘Venice’ evening was really interesting too. He gave a talk on the history and views of Venice accompanied by beautiful photos which he had taken. He is so talented. It is well worth a visit to his gallery as many photos are breath taking.

We make several visits yearly, each time buying top quality cards and postcards. I recently ordered a framed print of a favourite location. It is glorious. Chris is expert, knowledgeable and welcoming, and his work is superb. He's truly passionate about his work. Highly recommended.

My surprise 21st birthday present was a ticket to Venice with my Dad on Chris’ course. We both own cameras and wanted to learn how to use them properly. It was well worth the year-delay through Covid, and Chris managed to coax some great photos from us. Chris has a thorough understanding of the city and was able to show us the perfect vantage points, filling our day from blue hour to blue hour to make sure we squeezed every moment out of our time there. The rapidly changing weather wasn’t in our favour but Chris remained flexible and ensured the days were tailored so our experience was unaffected and we achieved numerous fantastic shots using the elements to our advantage. The small group meant that we had plenty of one-to-one time and with mixed experience levels it made sure that we all learnt a huge amount. Chris managed to deftly deal with Dad’s broken camera – scouting the local shops and quickly finding a rental replacement! An unforgettable experience in a beautiful city with a patient and knowledgeable host, we will both look forward to a future of far higher quality and better composed photographs – thank you Chris!

2022 UpdateJust got back from a week's workshop with Chris on the beautiful Isle of Skye! The weather was against us, but Chris managed to get us into good weather windows for sunrises and sunsets on the island and just onto the mainland and kept us going during the day with ad hoc subjects as we roamed the island looking for good weather and interesting subjects. Scrap boats anyone? Plus an overview of Lightroom processing when it was impossible to go out.Chris always only has small groups on his workshops so plenty of tuition, advice, and brolly holding was available. On the Quirang we saw 2 groups of nine traveling together, very difficult to get everyone in the best spots at the decisive moment with groups that size.Fantastic week Chris! Well done! I have some lovely images from the week.2021 Update!Thank goodness Chris and his gallery have survived the pandemic!Dropped in for a chat and some cards the other day and was captivated by a picture of Whitby Abbey in his exhibition. It is now on my wall!Visit cost a bit more than I was expecting but I am very happy with my cards, and the A2 framed Abbey print!Chris is the 'Naked Photographer'! Don't worry, only in the Jamie Oliver sense, in that he de-mystifies exposure, composition, and use of correct filters. Don't hesitate to book a course! You will learn loads! If you are in York, take the time to drop into his gallery. You will be able to see there the quality of both his work, and the locations you can go to on one of his courses.P.S. Chris is also jolly good company, and does nice coffee.

I’ve been on a number of photography workshops run by the owner, and they’ve all been great fun and very informative. Their print service is really good too - I had a photo printed as part of my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding present recently and it was superb quality.

Fantastic photography at great prices. The owner is very helpful and runs photography workshops both in the UK and in European cities such as Rome, Venice and Prague which are reasonably priced and very helpful to improve your landscape photography.Chris also runs a gallery in York that is full of wonderful prints, cards and other photography gifts that is well worth a visit.

Beautiful gallery - world class workshopsChris's gallery is beautiful - a lovely old black & white building in York full of fantastic landscape photography. His ability to find and record the light is amazing - and when he's in the gallery, he makes great coffee and is willing to chat. It's a great place to find a gift for that difficult to buy for person - who doesn't need a shot of a peaceful jetty over Ullswater to bring calm to a busy life? The best news is that he's keen to share his secrets in his workshops. I've been to the Yorkshire Coast, the Dales, the Lake District, Northumberland, Scotland, Prague, Rome and Venice with him and have never taken better shots or had so much fun (although yes - the mornings can be early). Bamburgh beach before it's light is a magical place). He has also advised me on how to print large scale, so my walls now have art on them that I am really proud of.When out with Chris, I've often seen other groups of 8 or more being pretty much left to their own devices, while the professional sets about taking his own shots. I've been on courses where the teaching amounted (seriously) to "Now - I want you to think outside the box and do something different in this location". That's fair enough and also what I wanted to do - but I'd paid the professional to help me with it - and just saying it out loud is really not much of a help!In the small groups Chris takes, he helps everyone out, lends out kit, gives advice on post production in the field and again later, over laptops in the hotel - and then chats to us over dinner and beers in the evenings and answers anything you might wish to ask.I've paid a fortune to attend National Geographic workshops in New York & New Orleans and other, smaller workshops in Scotland, Yorkshire and South East Asia over the past 10 years and am really impressed by the amount and quality of teaching Chris provides, in beautiful locations, with great hotels, great food, great company at such a reasonable cost. And it's lovely when a friend admires something on your wall and then is shocked to discover it's one of your own.Go, go, go - you won't regret it!EDIT - so good to see the Gallery safely re-opened and Chris running courses after the impact of the past year - it's been so hard on small, independent businesses like this. I'd recommend you pop in for a bit of Christmas shopping (he's got some lovely mugs in stock at the moment).

I had a day with Chris learning how to develop RAW images and make improvements using Lightroom and Photoshop. He was a great tutor, working firstly on his own images and then showing me how to make the most of the files I brought, with a pre prepared folder of notes so that I could concentrate on using the software while I was there.I'm now much better equipped to improve the images I am already taking and it proved that I have lots of scope to improve the results from the camera I have before spending more on equipment. Thanks Chris!

I have been on my first 4 day residential course in the Lake Districtwith Chris. The weather was against us for the majority of the time but Chris was able to show us how to create fabulous photos in the worst of conditions. His enthusiasm, patience and creativity certainly helped me with composition, camera settings and post editing. I initially went to better understand composition but came away confident that I can take far better photos than I ever imagined. Thank you Chris.Brian Owen 2018

I'd greatly admired Chris Ceaser's work for a while, so was delighted when my husband surprised me with a voucher for a day course with him. The day went far beyond my expectations. I have since taken further tuition with Chris and I anticipate attending more of his courses in the future. Chris is a fabulous tutor. He guides his students in everything from the best locations, composition, filters, camera settings, through to editing images to best effect. My own photography has come on leaps and bounds, as has my respect for Chris Ceaser's photography and enthusiasm. Thanks Chris.

Superb landscape photography. Excellent knowledge of Lee filters and how to get the best results with them. I have attended a day tuition in York with Chris on one of his courses. Thoroughly enjoyed the day. I have also joined his Facebook group which involves monthly competitions with people who have spent time with Chris, and keeps on growing. I first met Chris at my work place, printing some of his work for greeting cards.
