Walked in thinking one of the Shaun the sheep was in there, didn't even know this place existed - some great educational pieces, they had a great kids art session on - drawing/ kids books/ chalkboard/craft supplies etc even found out they rum a home educational group once a month which is literally perfect for us. Excited to go back - staff were very friendly ????

Really enjoyed the Wilhemina Barns-Graham exhibition today. Fascinating to see how her work gradually became more abstract. The Hatton always has interesting and stimulating exhibitions on. My favourite gallery.

I Love this place. I visit it all the time. My recent visit was to the British Abstract Artist Wilhelmina Barns-Graham. Wilhelmina Barns-Graham (1912 – 2004) was a leading member of the St Ives School of artists who contributed to the advancement of British Abstract Art in the 20th Century. I love her work

I'm not a very arty person but went with a friend and looked round. Lovely art on exhibition and an extremely kind volunteer who helped us get into it when I asked!

Never been as a punter, only on on business in the past. Impressed by the art on display, thought provoking. Especially liked the displays of local, and artists who studied there. Defo be returning.

Well worth the effort to find. Small collection, but some great pieces. Worth visiting for the Schwitters exhibit alone. Ask to see the Schwitter portrait in the study room.

University of Newcastle exhibition space and gallery. Hosting regular exhibitions of works that vary in style, size and period. The highlight is often the annual Fine Art degree shows in June and July. Exhibiting a dizzying array of contemporary art from new artists across a range of disciplines. The gallery itself is well set out with small shop, toilets and staff to answer queries. Not a huge space but perfect for an afternoon visit. Home to the internationally significant Merzbarn by Kurt Schwitters, the only permanent exhibit in the gallery.

The current seasonal exhibit is a bit disappointing. The very abstract industrial look of art. The rest of the art is not that impressive either. Some handmade artworks mostly focus on demonstrating the shape of the material, the paintings are just too obscure. However, it is still a nice and neat small gallery (only one floor, take stairs or elevator) to walk around that is connected to the campus.
