Adam Milford's work reflects the experience of his surroundings, a reinterpretation of sensations in space. He was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, but his family moved to Plymouth at an early age. He studied at Plymouth College of Art before the Liverpool School of Art and Design, from where he graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2001.Since then, Milford has been working f...rom his Plymouth studio on a body of work strongly inspired by his encounters with the environment of Devon and Cornwall. His process starts with landscapes, usually a coastal scene, where he can be seen taking photographs, sketches, and even collecting samples from the landscape. His interest ultimately lies in peripheral places – the boundaries between fields, the divisions of land, sea and sky, the ‘non-places’ of roadside, drove way, car park, or footpath. His work is in the collection of Truro School, Cornwall as well as in those of numerous private collectors across the UK and his exhibited mostly in the south of England.
