Akash Bhatt was born to Gujarati parents in Leicester who emigrated from Kenya in the 1960s. He is well know for his panoramas concentrating on the architecture of Florida, Cuba and the Caribbean and South America.
He also draws and paints when out on the streets looking for research material. Together with the sketchbooks, he uses large sheets of paper on which he draws... from direct observation. Back in his studio this information is used in the planning and making of new paintings.
Bhatt enjoys using a variety of mediums: oil, acrylic, watercolour, mixed media, and pen and ink.
Awards include 2015 – 1st Prize- Sunday Times Watercolour Artist of the Year Competition and 2010 – London Lives 1st Prize Network Rail/Cass Arts/Bankside Gallery, London. He has exhibited a series of solo shows at the Beaux Art Gallery in Bath as well as London and Scotland.
