Julia Manning artwork for sale and artist biography
For many years Julia Manning worked as a portrait painter, although she also received commissions for murals, trompe l'oeil works and painted tapestries throughout Europe and the United States. She lived in Paris for nine years and, whilst there, was able to renew her passion for etching and collography. There she she worked in a studio that specialised in both drypoint and etc...hing. On returning to England, she set up her own studio in Somerset, using a large press, and now works exclusively as a print-maker, often combining collagraphy and etching techniques to produce brightly coloured, lively prints. Her pictures are inspired by nature but lead to abstraction and are executed in a bold manner, taking obvious delight in both texture and form.
Julia has exhibited her work widely in Europe and has received commissions from all over the world. Her work is in many collections including Lord Bath's at Longleat, the British Embassy in Paris and the House of Lords.
Julia is a full member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen. She is also a founder member of Somerset Printmakers, a selected member of the Society of Wildlife Artists and has recently become an elected member of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers.
