Michael Dix is both a contemporary artist and designer based in Dundee, Scotland.
Having studied Interior and Environmental Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, he graduated in 1998. Since then Michael has successfully launched his own Interior and Architectural Services practice.
Being an artist has always complimented and influenced his design work, a...nd continues to lead to exciting and diverse design solutions across the many sectors of his work.
Dix is often exploring the concept of ‘Scale’ through his paintings. These include examinations of normally overlooked small objects such as butterflies, bees and bugs.
The desired outcome is to take these small specimens and alter the viewer’s perception of how beauty and size relate.
Have we overlooked the obvious in our quest for materialistic and desirable beauty?
Working in mainly Acrylics, Oils and Mixed Media, Michael enjoys investigating scale on the canvas, with paintings available in a variety of sizes – but never exactly what you would expect!
Dix work was featured in the house of interior designer Debbie Logan in the article ‘Bolder the better‘, released this year on Scotland on Sunday
