Steve Hawkins artwork for sale and artist biography
Steve Hawkins was born in Wiltshire in 1972 where he’s lived for most of his life.
He currently lives in Mere with his wife Sandie and two teenage children Reece and Kayleigh. His 30 year carer within the highways industry has taken him all across the UK but now he in mainly based within Wiltshire and Dorset.
There has always been a love of photography but when, i...n 2015 he was bought a DSLR by his wife for Christmas he decided that there was more to just owning a camera so decide to get to know his new camera, intimately.
He challenged himself to take an image a day for a year with the camera set in manual mode. The idea was to learn the fundamentals of photography and develop himself within the art of photography. He completed the challenge during 2016 and had his first successful show of printed works during the 2017 Wylye Valley Art Trail followed by two further shows in galleries in 2018.
His image, Mud! Was commended and appeared in the 12th edition of the Take A View, Landscape Photographer of the Year and was the signature image in his fourth show, "Warning! May Contain Mud!" Hosted by Yapp Wine Merchants in May this year.
“We live in a time of instant gratification followed by obscurity. For me one of the most humbling and satisfying elements of my photography is seeing someone take the time to look, to actually see, one of my printed images and if they choose to make it part of their life as a print on the wall… That there, is what makes it really real!”
Steve has a number of ongoing projects and is continuing to develop his abstract landscape work.
