Sue Bartlett studied BA Fine Art at Thames Valley University and graduated in 2005. She now works from her studio in Mortimer, Berkshire.
Sue's bold semi-abstract paintings take the essence of the flower or landscape in the drama of shape, colour and texture. The medium of wax and a glossy glass resin allow Sue to exaggerate this natural beauty to brilliant effect. ...br>Her works have an energetic quality and, while they appear to be spontaneous due to the expressive way the wax has been applied, they hide careful consideration of shape and form. The colour is vibrant and direct - the way the wax is applied ensures that the integrity of colour is retained, thereby creating a drama of it's own on the painting's surface. The medium gives each canvas a distinctive, almost & texture and a three dimensional quality.
Sue's work has been constantly gaining in popularity and is permanently shown in galleries across the South as well as the Affordable Art Fairs in both London and Bristol. Her work now hangs in private homes in Tokyo, New York and Dubai and she is regularly commissioned by private collectors.
Sue, whose family has a history of furniture and clothes-making, spent a year experimenting with different glues and other products, turning her studio into an alchemist's science lab. Sue Bartlett's paintings have proved to be extremely popular with modern and traditional interiors, with regular commissions arriving from Interior designers for a specific room setting.
